Motorcycle shipping is more widely
used by individual consumers today. Shipping a motorcycle used
to be primarily done by motorcycle dealerships and the
motorcycle manufacturers, but today it has become more readily
available and convenient for everyone.
In today's world, people are making more and
more purchases on-line. The purchase of a motorcycle is no
exception. With on-line auctions and classified ads people are
now able to find that perfect motorcycle and are not bound by
what is available in their local area. People are even buying
new motorcycles from distant dealerships either to find that
special limited edition model or perhaps strike a better deal.

When shipping a motorcycle
today, there are several leading companies to chose from. Some
motorcycle shipping companies specialize in and cater to overseas
motorcycle shipping while other motorcycle shipping companies focus on
in-country motorcycle transport. Whichever motorcycle shipping company
you use, they will all have a slightly different procedure for securing
and transporting motorcycles as well as pick-up and drop-off specifics.
Large freight trucks
(eighteen wheelers) are the typical method of shipping motorcycles
in-country. When using a freight company in the past, one used to be
required to 'crate' the motorcycle for shipping. These crates are
regularly in use by motorcycle manufacturers when shipping their
motorcycles to their dealerships, but are not the best option for the
average consumer. In recent years, freight companies have begun to
offer their own loading 'platforms' in which to secure the motorcycle
and some air freight companies offer their own crates, ready for you to
load and secure your motorcycle directly into at their shipping
facility. Both methods save you from the stress and hassle of locating
and assembling a crate, and most importantly guarantee that your
motorcycle is properly secured for shipping. |

When using either road
or air transport, different pick-up and delivery procedures often
apply. Some motorcycle shipping companies will not accommodate
residential addresses and require that you have your motorcycle
picked-up and delivered to a business address, however, not necessarily
a motorcycle dealership. Air-freight companies require you to deliver
and pick-up your motorcycle at the airport from which they are
shipping. The details of delivery and pick-up will most likely be an
important factor in your shipping decision.
Whether you are buying, selling, relocating or
sending your favorite motorcycle overseas for a touring vacation, there
are plenty of options today to ensure that your motorcycle is shipped
safely and conveniently. |
